Our Team at University of Dearborn MI

At Michigan University Dearborn, MI, a girl encountered my Father in the Bathroom...

The first day we did campus ministry at Michigan University, the atmosphere was really dark. Dad wanted us to claim it as His. Some reasons for the darkness, is the lack of freedom there and the fact that Dearborn has the largest Muslim population per capita in the USA. When we returned home from ministry we were exhausted, so we had a yarper meeting at our home in Mexicotown where Dad encouraged us.

When we returned the following day, I was filled with an expectation for what Dad wanted to do. Beforegoing out with our team, I went to the bathroom. I didn't expectwhat was waiting for me there.

As soon as I opened the door to the bathroom, I saw a girl rushing towards the wall, weeping. My first reaction was to give her space but I felt Dad nudge my heart, "Casi, I've sent you here for such a time as this." So i gently tapped her on the shoulder and asked her what was wrong. She said," I'm just having a really hard time", through tears. I took off my jacket and laid it on the floor. I sat on the floor of the bathroom, comforting her, for nearly a half hour. There was such a sense of deep despair within her. After a while, I asked her if she knew my Father. She said, "Yes." After that, Dad opened the door of her heart and she released burdens in her life like depression & heartbreak.

I couldn't believe that all of this was happening on the floor of a bathroom at a college campus!

Then I asked for the my Dad to fill her with peace. Soon, her heart's whimpers subsided. It was so obvious that my Dad's love was affecting her. His love was so thick in the bathroom that both of our eyes were filled with tears of joy. We just sat in silence there for a while. It was incredible. Afterwards, we exchanged numbers. We met up in the campus lunchroom a few days later. She was changed. Dad is still working on her heart but I know that He has big things for her. She is studying to be a cancer researcher. When I asked her why she chose that major, she said, " There is nothing like helping someone. I think He created me for it." The more she spoke about her major the more passionate she became. I believe my Dad is going to use her in major, mighty ways to bring healing to others.
